ABOUT ME
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Manchester, Joe Blackwell (JB) has emerged as a self-taught artist who uses his creations to navigate personal battles and challenges, while simultaneously fostering discussions on difficult and often silenced subjects.
At the heart of Blackwell's artistic repertoire lies his mastery of mixed medium wall sculptures. Utilizing an array of materials such as acrylics, spray paints, stickers, posters, and card.

Drawing inspiration from the convergence of pop art and street art, JB has crafted a distinctive style that seamlessly blends the vibrant colours and cultural references of pop art with the gritty essence of street art.

His creations pulsate with energy, capturing attention with their vivid hues and alluring composition. Each piece invites viewers to embark on a journey of discovery, encouraging a closer examination of the intricate details, hidden motifs, thought-provoking slogans, and personal motivations interwoven throughout
WHAT'S NEXT?
With his work featuring in several exhibitions between 2023 and 2024, and shortlisted for the VAO24 Emerging Artist Award for Painting and Mixed Medium artwork; one focus is to maintain the Antagonistic World series. With this project holding close affinities to what is considered fine art due to the themes, ambiguity, and complexity addressed, ensuring a large portion of future work retains these themes is a priority for JB.

However, engaging with brands, content creators, and hosting workshops has also become an important and engaging part of JBs work throughout 2024, so expect to see more events, collaborations, and features in the future!
